TableNine Productions - FAQs

Who is the main contact for the group? Paul Wilkinson – email: pjwilkinsonuk@yahoo.co.uk

Where does the group meet? - It varies – we usually perform at South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell, Berkshire. We usually rehearse at The InnerSense Studio in Crowthorne.

When do you meet? – When we are not rehearsing we meet on the first Thursday of each month – then two or three times a week when we are rehearsing.

What artforms do you practice? - Mainly acting, though we have been known to sing and very occasionally dance.

When did the group start? - TableNine Productions was formed in 2004, and we have since put on ten productions; The Memory of Water, The Starthrowers, A Room with a View (devised), The Extraordinary Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Harry, Twelve Tales of Christmas and Humble Boy, Sherlock Holmes (on a bigger scale), Breathing Corpses and Ghost Stories.

What is the average age of the group? - About 38, we are not really open to under 18s except in extraordinary circumstances, this is because we are not really a ‘youth group’ and therefore can’t provide the same opportunities a young person’s theatre group could provide.

How many members does the group have? - At the moment we have four men and eight women.

If I came along, what could I expect? - TableNine Productions is a small and friendly community theatre company. Our main aim is to produce excellent plays rarely performed by other groups. Although we take our production values seriously we are keen to maintain a sense of fun and enthusiasm. We are quickly building a loyal audience and enjoy doing mainstream as well as devised plays.

Do you have a website?  -  Yes - www.tablenine.btck.co.uk

How much does it cost to join? - £20 per annum. We try to pay for everything out of company funds raised through ticket sales; however, as with all hobbies and interests you may incur further costs for things such as travelling and socialising.

Could I join on a trial basis? - Yes – you could join for the period of one production and see how you get on.

Is there a test or an audition to join? - We will arrange an informal chat with all new members, it’s not an interview it’s a chance for you to discover more about us and us about you. Anyone hoping to go onstage would be asked to either read or perform a short piece of script. Backstage volunteers do not need to audition.

Do I need any prior experience? If so, what level? – It is definitely an advantage, and may help you to get some of the more high profile acting roles. It’s important for us to maintain a high standard of performance in our productions, this means that we try to find a balance between providing exciting and worthwhile opportunities for inexperienced actors and ensuring the final production meets the standards expected by our audience.  If you have no experience we will support and encourage you. You also need enthusiasm, dedication, a sense of humour, a willingness to learn and an understanding that drama can be quite demanding.

Do I need to bring any special clothes/materials? - Just dress comfortably.

Is there sufficient car parking space close to the group venue? - Yes

Are there disabled facilities at the venue? - Yes.
